I am reminded of The Englishman who Went up a Hill but Came down a Mountain while watching Mundasupatti, a screwball comedy by talented director Ram Kumar, who recently brought us Ratchasan.

Indeed, the movie follows the original in weaving the tale of two struggling photographers who wind up in a small town whose residents thrive on quirky superstitions. And, it is in these superstitions that the movie takes on an identity of its own, offering a humorous and family friendly watch. 

Making the film all the more fun is Mr. Anandaraj as an eccentric don in the small town, who is after the local temple deity, using a bunch of goons who are less than qualified to do so.  He does host a lot of his people for a meal of unique...soup.  But, please don't accept it if offered.
