Kaalidas is intended to be a very engaging thriller about a tough, driven cop who, with the support and mentoring from the Assistant Commissioner, investigates a series of gruesome suicides.

Bharath plays Das as a man with an inexplicable chip on his shoulder, and many reasons to skip out on his bride, who is played in a most unimpressive way by Ms. Sheetal. Equally unimpressive is Mr. Menon as the aging, overtly sentimental senior cop.

Acting aside, sentiment is what drives to this film to the ground. We are led through a series of edge-of-your-seat chase scenes to introduce us to characters who lead us further into a maze of unconnected ideas, including references to Blue Whale, prostitution rings, and a psycho serial killer. All this to bring us to one of the most contrived endings ever produced in recent film.

The ending reveals the true killer of what could have been a really good film, the writers and director.
