We normally wish we hadn't seen the remake after seeing the original.  Oh, Manapenne! is quite the reverse.  A remake of the runaway hit, Pelli Choopulu, Oh, Manapenne! closely follows the original but adds a breezy feel to the story which has us enjoying it more.

The key to success are the two young stars, who build a believable chemistry in their romantic tension.  Both Ms. Shankar are Mr. Sundar are to be lauded for not merely copying the styles of their predecessors but bringing in their own charm into this lively story.

Even the side characters are to be praised in creating the Notting Hill - like cast of eccentric friends and compatriots who, in rom coms, serve to accentuate the serendipitous feel that makes rom-coms what they are.  But, what is unique is there is no histrionic to anyone of them.  This is a slice of life, day to day kind of story, and the cast of actors is in no way trying to challenge that.

Give up challenging yourself for a while, and sit back and relax to this nice, predictable, but well-acted comedy.
