The opening moments of Sooryavanshi makes you feel like you are about to watch a serious film.  Scenes of terrorism, and images of terrorist characters fill the screen and you watch as the cops get serious about what is going on.  Then the title character appears and immediately starts messing up people's names.  This ongoing gag carries throughout the film, even in the romance, catching the audience's attention and preparing us for the zaniness of the second half.

 

This is not a movie about acting, it's about beefcake and Katrina Kaif.  While we see plenty of testosterone laced action related to the former, Ms. Kaif is given only a few minutes to be on the screen.  The rest of the time is about bullets, bombs, bad guys, and lots and lots of off the cuff humor.

 

Not exactly the intelligent art movies I usually find myself watching, Sooryavanshi is a welcome retreat to predictable and action-packed.
