Mohan's Measure

On the heels of Salute, Mr. Salmaan to the world of romantic comedies with Hey, Sinamika, a title based on a song from Ok, Kanmani.

Seeming to borrow from the same, the movie brings two random strangers together for a romance and marriage (sort of) without mention or invitation of family, friends, or sundry well wishers.

Two years pass, and we find the wife tiring of her the man who serves as homemaker and caters to her every whim. She comes up with a fiendish plot, hire a woman to seduce the husband so that there are now justifiable reasons for divorce. But, what happens if the hired seducer actually falls in love with him?

There are so many things wrong with this ridiculous plot that it fails both in the romance and the comedy. This is because there is neither when something touted as a rom-com centers its plot around infidelity and divorce.

Instead, we are offered the plastic acting of two leading ladies, who offer as much emotion as Mr. Spock and as much genuineness to their characters as those in a wax museum.

As for Mr. Salmaan, any attempts to bring some semblance of soul to this story presented as high brow soliloquy. Indeed, his near perfect male demeanor is at times irritating, particularly in the closing scenes, where his about to be former wife grovels at his feet for forgiveness.

I can only do the same to the movie moghuls such that they never make this garbage, again.
