The Three of Us is a cathartic little film. It is not about plot or message, but is simply a vignette, a visit by a woman to a town where she once lived, a stay which ended with the tragic death of her sister.

Neither this, nor the fact the woman is struggling with dementia, affects anything. We are simply asked to see the world through the middle aged woman's eyes, listen to her conversations, and like all the other characters in the movie, offer no judgement. 

Instead it is simple affection, understanding and empathy that makes each moment of this movie touch our soul, and in an obscure but very real way, find hope 

Much like life itself.
