Mohan's Measure ⭐⭐⭐⭐
If anyone is to be credited for the success of this beautiful film, it is the team of intellectually challenged actors who gave very impressive performances as a well-intentioned but challenged basketball team who proves that all one needs to prove oneself life is a good heart. Most impressive among them are Mr. Varma as the hydrophobic Guddu and Ms. Mangeshkar as the no-nonsense Golu.
Also, in a wonderfully fitting way to return to the screen, is the ever-charming Ms. Genelia, who brings a screen presence and a hint of mischievousness persona to Gulshan's estranged wife. Her presence in some ways shines over Mr. Khan, in her knowing look making us to laugh at the relatively simple thinking of her beau, and perhaps all males in our species.
As the hero, Mr. Khan offers the same innocent, wide-eyed, confused little boy look offered in PK, but something seems strained, perhaps a sign of his age, or his inability to keep up with the young people who are both in the movie and in reality, the true heroes.
While the movie is syrupy sweet, and undoubtedly predictable, it feels really good to come out of the movie theater with a warm heart instead of a sick stomach.
