Thimmarajupalli TV (TTV) is a slap in the face of big named Tollywood in presenting a unique twist to a paper thin plot. Certainly it succeeds in this, but we only wish they could have executed it better.
With a set of 50 plus hardly known to first time actors, the movie tells a nostalgic tale of a time, decades ago, when our entertainment centers were not a vital organ, and when friends and neighbors gathered together to watch...gasp...the same streaming program at the same time. And get this, sometimes people actually talked to each other.
The dopamine fix was still there, though, just as much, this to the chagrin of newlyweds who happened to have the only one with a satellite dish (check Chat GPT). One fine day, the set vanishes and accusations fly, pointing blame at the scraggly haired guy who is known as the village thief.
The poor man now takes us on a chase through village and town to capture the real robber, turning to everyone from a witch doctor to a TV repairman (think low tech Geek Squad) for guidance. It is unfortunate that it in these scenes where the movie fails to communicate. None of the characters are introduced or developed well enough to create that eccentric neighborhood feeling that would make the film fun. There is no single laugh-out-loud scene that stands out, nor is there is that one moment of human sentiment .
In fact, after awhile, with just about every male having scraggly hair and a beard, and the female lead characters being sisters, the people in the movie become like a big jumble, logical closure feeling like afterthought.
Someone needs to adjust the antenna (you can Google this).
