Just the star cast draws you to this film. What to speak of the director of C U Soon. But, those expecting a star studded masterpiece will very quickly be disillusioned. 

So, I just came across an interesting article that provides 15 reasons why Malayalam cinema is superior to the rest. The lack of any of these is the reason that Patriot is so awful, despite the cast of legendary actors. These are just to name a few problems:

SPOILERS AHEAD

1.  Believable story - biggest failure here. The plot is set around a government contractor, headed by Mr. Sundaram, who decides to sell the government property he developed to the public. Why? So that the company can take videos and blackmail the middle class for huge sums of money. So, if the government has already paid you mega-bucks, why would you go after people who can't pay you?

2. Character development - The movie presents each of these four actors as ridiculously powerful men who served in the military together.  Two are in seemingly long term relationships with spouses who appear to be important, but ultimately fall a distant second to the four larger than life heroes.

3. Style over substance - the mistakes of Lucifer 2 are repeated here. Fancy locations, cool cars, over the top action, all featuring  guys who look like they should be on the cover of AARP magazine.
